Well now- I was born in Californicatia- the SF bay area at that. I had no call in the matter, otherwise I assure you the circumstances would be different. Ma's side of the family hails from Tennessee- northeastern Tennessee. My uncles on that side taught me Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin, Fiddle, safecracking, pickpocketry, hotwireing and moonshining. Grandma taught me Harmonica. Grampa taught me how to drive his 1937 Indian motorcycle. Your mention of inventions calls to mind a bass instrument of my own design and creation- most of it was from purchased material, but a critical item was 100% recycle. Everything you need to build this thing can be had at a hardware or lumberyard. The one string is cotto clothsline. Yes, it's a rope bass, but not like any you've seen before. Plays beautifully, slick action, nice voice. Iff'n I can get someone to play it with with me on Banjo and my bud Jim on six string, we'll send you a copy so's you can prove that Georgia does NOT have the market cornered on Rednecks- there's plenty here in the Pacific Northwest, especially the wilds of Eastern Washington, where men are men and sheep only got legal protection in 2005- no joke there, somebody forgot to put it in the books! MAJOR "D'OHH!!" over that one...
